Blouse Chest

Many Many years ago I saw a beautiful chest of drawers in an Antique shop in Geelong, years after that I saw one, revamped so beautifully by a woman who owned and ran a Shabby Chic shop in New Street Brighton,. She had her chest for sale at $595.00!!!
I'm not sure of the origins of these drawers, but I know they were for young ladies to keep their shirts in, all puffed up with tissue paper, to keep them pressed and perfect, how totally wonderful!
I have made recent enquiries, but I'd be grateful if anyone who happens to read my blog and knows of these chests, could leave a comment, thank you.

It was then I thought, before I die, I'd love a Blouse Chest and Baby Powder Blue VW Beetle.

Well it just so happens that my keen eye spotted a Blouse Chest while driving past a second hand dealer in Cente Road Bentleigh.

Such a long long story, and a streesful wait for the store to open, but this chest was on sale for $69.00!!!!!

I couldnt believe my luck, and snatched it up straight away!
Once its repainted and the old, {but beautiful} fabric covered with something funky and pink? {maybe even that Gingham that I adore}
It will be in Bronte's room for her clothes and stuff, look how tall it is! She can barely see over the top.
Way way to special..............

and here they are.....................

Olivia lives a few doors down and she visits us daily, she often will come in complaining and talking alot, she likes loads of cuddles and as quickly as she came, she off again. Jack loves cats, and on this day she sat on his tiny lap, contented, while he played computer games, her eyes were half closed most of the time in sheer bliss of all the attention she was getting from Jack. These are great memories.
Opps just realised you have seen this, but I cant delete it, so bad luck girls!

Like Brontes hat?, well she stole it from Santa! As you can see she, was caught on camera frolicking in the bay at Ricketts Point wearing his hat. Sprung Bad Bronte!

This layout was done for Charmaine and Karlene's new venture on Charmaine's blog

Go and check out this challenge there is loads of prizes and heaps of scrapping to be inspired by and I'm sure the girls would love to see new work.

Weekend of Scrapping....

Well I'm happy with my efforts this weekend,
Crafting in Style:
http://craftinginstyle.openstores.com.au/
Had their CC this weekend starting Friday night, Jolene set some inspiring Challenges,This one I have here is of Jacks friend Cody and his patience with the never ending demands put upon him by Bronte. I discovered them outside, in the sandpit, feeding the Baby Born, only to see it wee and do poo!
Totally the funniest thing I've seen a 10 year old boy do!

This layout was based on Challenge two of the cyber crop, the requirements were to use no Pattened Paper, Chipboard was allowed and could be altered, the Title required to be hand cut. I struggled and struggled with one layout, that one soon ended up in the bin, this second one came to me minutes before I went to bed! Don't you hate that!

Brother

Well, hello fellow scrappers, I know it's been a while in between posts. It's all due to the scrapper's block I continually find myself in. If anyone has a remedy I'd love to hear it.
But only if it involves more alcohol!

My last post received some thoughtful comments and I'm eternally grateful to you all for taking the time to pop by. Thank you!

Alison Ellis have released their new range, and although the papers aren't to my liking, I'm continually suprising myself with the ease with which these layouts are coming to me. This last was done using paper from their "Impressions" range.
I was inspired by a challenge posted on Scrapbookingtop50. http://www.scrapbookingtop50.com.au/frontpage/html/
The challenge was to create a layout for under $10.00. I've never ever attempted such a thought provoking task and was thrilled to have completed it for around $8.95!
So pop over and check out the awesome challenges this month, I'd love to see what you come up with.
Until next time Wally Watchers!

Love to all
Vicky

and another...........

Well now I'm all scrapped out, here is another from Allison Ellis " Impression " range, awesome blue! Thanks For Looking!!

Saturday, October 21, 2006

About time..................

I was Challenged, Last night was Chookscraps CC and the challenges were right up my alley, so to speak! This 2nd layout I've done using AED papers, http://www.alisonellisdesign.com.au/
their new "IMPRESSION" range ia awesome.
This layout is of my Nana who passed away sometime in the late 1970's, I've used Melissa Francess tiny little key locks and one of the many MM hat pins, too cute, and you all know, I cant stop myself from using Fabric! I did a nother shop Friday and acquired some more fantastic pieces, just loving the vintage fabrics, busting to use more. Heidi Swapp Letters and the ever so faithful Making Memories Foam stamps .

Ok, the 1st image, is another layout using AED "Girl Stripe" the Challenge here was to create a layout using the words or words "trick or treat" and three triangles. This has a funny story behind it . You all know Bronte had a party at the local Fairy Shop, well while there the children were taught a little bit of Magic, by Fairy Rose.
You may like to try this at home?
Are you sick of plain old boring lemonade, well if you shut your eyes very tightly and repeat the words " I wish " " I wish " and concentrate very hard, your plain boring old lemonade will magicly change colour!
We practice this magic at home, but last night unfortunatly I poured a little too much magic{food dye} into the lemonade bottle and after a couple of sips we all started to feel ill!!
No I'm not trying to poison my children!! Please!
The photos of Bronte's green mouth looked great in the camera, but when I printed them out, opps......... we had run out of Ink, so all the photos came out, much to my amusement GREEN!
Talk soon Girls!

A thing of beauty..........

A thing of beauty is a joy for ever:
Its loveliness increases; it will never
Pass into nothingness; but still will keep
A bower quiet for us, and a sleep
Full of sweet dreams, and health, and quiet breathing.
Therefore, on every morrow, are we wreathing
A flowery band to bind us to the earth,
Spite of despondence, of the inhuman dearth
Of noble natures, of the gloomy days,
Of all the unhealthy and o'er-darken'd ways
Made for our searching: yes, in spite of all,
Some shape of beauty moves away the pall
From our dark spirits...
-- John Keats

Witchiepoo!!

Ahhhh, Halloween is getting closer and the Kids just love dressing up, I love scrapping these photos . How cute is this little Witchiepoo??

Big Birthday Girl

Well what a start to the day, Bronte woke up to her Birthday presents, a Calico Bear and textas to write on her bear with, a [pink] My Little Pony, with long beautiful hair and a set of Paints.
She was so good all day, taking phone calls from relatives wishing her a happy birthday, and later at 4.30 she had her very own Fairy Shop Birthday Party!!
Fairy Rose made Bronte feel very special and she received a lovey doll, lolly bag, heart balloon sparkles on her face, hair clips and a bracelet!!!!!!
School next year and she is so ready. It was just about the best Party that any little girl could ever dream of!

Wonder

Well I kinda had another of those weekends, where I was hanging out for inspiration, I always want to scrap, but cant find the motivation .
Chookscraps sent me an e-mail, they were having a impromptu Cyber Crop, and I quickly popped over and found a challenge I was interested in.
The idea was to "scraplift" from a layout in the Gallery.
How easy is that? I didn't have to flick trough mags to find something appealing, I stayed on line and found a layout which suited what I wanted to do.
I'm pretty sure the winner has been announced and it wont be me, so am taking the chance to show it here.
I've added fabric, what else??? and white washed the paper it was way too bright, left the chipboard raw, thats always fun, you might not be able to see but the large Monogram 'B' continues to say Baby.......................................

Boo!

We are all very excited to announce ZigZag October Cyber Crop, "Trick or Treat"

http://www.zigzagscrapbooking.com.au/index.php

27th October starting at 7.30pm,
Hope you can all come?
We will be asking everyone to upload photos of their children, or themselves dressed up as something spooky,
so if your keen, you dont need to be a scrapper just upload a photo in our Gallery and join in the fun!
I just about used up all my expensive Body Shop eye liner making these kids scrary!!
Like the layout?, please leave a comment,
I've used balck cardstock and Basic Grey PP, fabric, a lovely white flower I've cut in half, and just so lightly outlined Bronte, by adding dots around her figure to show her cape, using Uniball White Gel pen. Catcha ya soon everyone.

HOT!

Hi Everyone!
Here is my latest, gee I never ever thought I'd use that bright Green cardstock, but sometimes it pays to get stuff like thats out of your stash, just incase it is just the right thing for your layout!
I really love theses photos of Jack, He actually was not eating anything hot, but I needed to do an " inspired by" challenge for Zig Zag next month, so I used the little Urban Lilly Chipboard and worked around that.
I will try and do a few more layouts of Jack, Bronte seems to feature alot in my work and I guess its because Jack is a school during the week and the photo opportunities are not there.
Zig Zag Cyber Crop is on tonight 7.30EST hope you can pop by, we will be having a game of Bingo, so you need to pop over to the site sometime before it starts, and make your selection.
Hope everyone is well, and do leave a comment I love to hear from you all!

French Chic

Scraptacular has announced their next competition " French Counrty ".' they describe it as being : rich colours, small flowers and busy prints - Here is my entry,
I found I was suprised at the description, because for such a long time I've thought of "French Country" as being "French Provincial" alot of white washed textures and small amounts of colour.
Anyway guys I've uploaded my entry here to show you all, and see what you think?
Hope you have all had a fantastic weekend, the weather was so nice, such a delight to see the sun!

Button Button who's got the Button?

The page you are viewing is unfinished.
I had a bit of a revelation late Monday night, I have been making tiny little clothes and popping them in a frame, they are adorable. I thought maybe if I could source some Vintage creamy cloured frames, from Opp shops I might just be able to sell them on e-bay. On Friday I finally went opp shop shopping, to the few tiny little Church ones we have locally. Now I do like button, but only Vintage Buttons, I have been disappointed of late, that there are very few availiabe, when I do come across one or two they are in a pack of 10000 and selling for $5.00 I cannot justify spending $5.00 on a thousand buttons only to be able to use two or three.
Well it must have been my lucky day,as the little opp shop upstairs from a Church Wilson Street Brighton, had a bowl of the most beautiful buttons I'd EVER seen!, Get this $.20 cents a spoon full.
I could have kissed the old ladies, aren't they just the most amazing, beautiful colors and shapes??? I'm talking about the ones on the right hand page.

The others on the left are not that old at all.
This is a double page from an album I've created, to keep photos and things that I LOVE!
Its an album full of inspiration for me, its a place for me to stop and admire and hopefully encourage me to create.
As for the Frames, unlucky there as I only found three ones that weren't really what I was after, I will do them up and maybe admire them for a while.

Once they are stale to me I will pop them on e-bay and lets just see if I cant make a little bit of money???
Thanks again guys, for popping buy and leaving your comments.
Catcha ya soon!

Your Time Starts Now............

Your Time Starts Now:

My earliest memory is.....seeing bossy, pushy girls at kinder running for the only 3 prams there were to play with.

At school I........was lost.

My first relationship was........with our cats, I adored them and thought they did me too!

I don't like talking about.........my addiction to Zuccini.

I wish I'd never worn..........Sock stocking to work, you could see though my skirt at the bulge they created on my legs.

My mother always told me.......Beware of pasta made with Zuccini.

My Father always told me........" Man will make the world right again".

I wish I had................an old powder blue VW Beetle.

I wish I hadn't..........discovered the joys of Zuccini pasta!

My most humiliating moment was...........asking Tim Freeman to sign my chest!!!

My happiest moment was..................finding I was accepted to ZIGZAG Design Team.

At home I cook..........Zuccini Pasta!

My last meal would be.........Zuccini Pasta, what else is there.

I'm very bad at ..........Spelling.

When I was a child I wanted to.........grow up!.

The book that changed my life is............The Beginning, by Chaim Potok

Its not fashionable, but.......I love 1980 music!

Friends say.........How much more Zuccini pasta can you eat??

The hardest thing I've ever done was ............finding the courage to ride The Big Dipper at Luna Park with my son.

If I wasn't me, I'd like to be.........a VW Beetle.

If I were a car I'd be a......... VW Beetle, because i'm slow and steady, and I've got lots of cuves.Beep Beep!
I often wonder................did archeologists make a mistake about T-Rex having those stupid looking small arm's???

Scraptacular Cyber Crop

Hi there, so tired today, last night I attended my Local Scrapbooking Shop, 1st ever on line Crop.
It was held in the chat room, there were three challenges set for the night,
Trivia and Bingo.
Bingo was fantastic, I was just one off from winning, and I think the prize was Heidi Swapp stuff, damm, I love all her stuff, anyway, cant always win now, can I???
This was the Sketch Challenge, I'm happy with it, the photos open to reveal journalling, and I'm just obsessing at the moment about sewing material on my layouts, I just adore the effect!
Thanks for looking guys!
I love that you take time to pop by and share with me.
Catch Ya tomorrow!

The morning after

Oh I'm soooo Famous the radio sations are calling me!!!!!!
7.15 this morning,
I get a call from 774 ABC ,
Peter Rosethorn wants to talk to me about last night!
I was 1/2 asleep again, but I was much more composed and did not giggle so much.
I was very proud of myself.
He was there last night also, and we had a nice chat.

Boy, what a night.
I left home at 6pm giving myself an hour to get the the Rod Laver Arena, park the car and find John.
7.45pm I was still on Punt Road, with what it seemed everyone else in the world.
I did hear on the car radio, that the Rod Laver Arena and The Tennis Centre's carparks were full, and it would be advisable for anyone going to the concert to try and park at the MCG.
Yeah right, I've driven to the MCG once before in my life! and it was bloody tough going.
Anyway to cut a long story short, we were late and missed the 1st couple of acts.
considering the queue was so long to get into the car park, John and I decided we could give the rush at the end of the concert a miss and we left about I and 1/2 hour before it finished.
I don't think we missed much as it really was all about Countdown and Molly Meldrum droning on and on about his ability to "pick big hits" and the continuous pathetic jokes about him being Camp or Gay were old.
The best part was "Hush" pyrotechnics were awesome! and they sounded exactly the same as they did years ago, they did, "Bonie Maronie" and ' Glad all over".
It was Fantastic!
Red did a lovely Cameo, and talked about the stars that have passed Shirley ,Ted , Bon and the like, it was touching and funny.
Stephen Cummins did " Who listens to the radio" it was awful, but that may have been just me, as others thought it was good.
Leo Sayer was terrific also, and sounded like he did in the 1970s, very charming.
Could have given " Shutuppa your Face" nobody rocked to that!
Chantoozies were just old skinny sad women.
Goanna were sad also.
Enough from me
Have a great weekend everyone.

Just a Girl.

I enjoyed doing this layout, it came from my Design Team Pack and I was requested to do two layouts from it.
The papers are not ones that I would buy myself and I thought I would struggle to work with it.
But this layout came easily and I'm happy with the result.
Unfortunatly these layouts were not picked to go into ZigZags Newsletter,
which was a blow to me, as I did get them in on time and I had put a great deal of work into them.

Girls Stuff
3 Bugs in a Rug layout: Alison Ellis Design and Heidi Swapp.
I love this one.

Bronte loves her Babies.
She has two Baby Born and often they go where ever she goes.
On this day in front of the telly in her little white rocking chair,
I saw, and captured her beautiful profile as she fussed over her babies.
The Profile cards came with the Design Team pack and were a lot of fun to complete, adding her little quirks and stuff.
Thanks for looking Guys!
